This book is the colaboration of the typographer's vision of the poem and the sculptor's vision of the poet. This portrait of Walt Whitman was individually cast of 100 percent cotton paper pulp from a negative mold and the patina was hand applied by the artist with graphite. The type is handset Centaur printed letterpress by the typographer. The text is 24 point roman from Mackenzie & Harris Inc. San Francisco. The paper, Hosho, is handmade in Japan. This book was published by the International Institute of Experimental Printmaking in the summer of 1976...Typographer Richard Bigus. Sculptor Garner H. Tullis. This edition is limited to 65 copies.
