Eastward the armies, completed February of 1980, was designed, printed, and bound by Richard Bigus of Labyrinth Edition ... The poems are handset in 18-point Centaur type (designed by Bruce Rogers and based in the roman letters used by Nicolas Jenson in 1470) with Arrighi Italic; the initials and titling are Castellar; the text is set in 12-point Centaur monotype with Arrighi; the book was printed on a Vandercook proofing press. The illustrations were printed from the original linoleum blocks carved by artist Tom Killion. The text paper for the Roman numeraled copies I-L is Japanese handmade Hosho professional and Suzuki; the text paper for the numbered copies 51-250 is Japanese Masa and Suzuki. Imago Papermill made the broad sheet papers used in the portfolio of the Roman numeraled edition. All copies are signed by the poet and artist. The decorative cover sheets were made by the printer.
