Fourteen wood engravings : for Iwan Gilkin "Le Sphinx"

John Buckland Wright made fourteen wood engravings as illustrations for Le Sphinx by Iwan Gilkin (Oeuvres complètes d'Iwan Gilkin), which was to be published by Le Livre Belge in Brussels. The book was never published. Two engravings printed from the wood were published in Histoire du Livre et de l'Imprimerie en Belgique des Origines à nos Jours, vol VI, Brussels, Le Musée du Livre, 1943 and two others were published in Graphia-Bulletin no. 3 (1959). This portfolio is published by Graphia in the year 1960 and offered to its members as a gift for the end of the year 1959. The engravings were printed from the blocks at the presses of Drukkerij Krol & Courtin in Antwerp. The edition consists of 250 copies, numbered 1-250. This copy is number [22].
