Through the looking-glass, : and what Alice found there

The University of California Press Edition of Throug the looking-glass, and what Alice found there fastidiously reproduces the original printing done by Harold McGrath at the Pennyroyal Press, West Hatfield, Massachusetts. The type is Monotype Bembo and Bembo Italic, with Alfred Fairbank's Condensed Italic and John Peters' Castellar, here reproduce at approximately three-quaters original size. The original typography was composed and cast at the type foundry of Michael and Winifred Bixler, Boston, with considerable hand composition being done by Arthur Larson and Chase Twichell at the Press. The calligraphy on the title page is the work of G.G. Laurens. The binding is the work of Robert Burlen & Son, Inc., Hingham, Massachusetts. The camera work for reproducing the pages and the wood engravings by the lithographic printing process was done at Southeastern Printing Company, who also printed this edition at their plant in Stuart, Florida.
